It will deliver a 'music inclusion mentoring project' that empowers local people with the confidence and skills to make social connections, shape local activities and access opportunities that affect their futures in a positive way. The project combines music activities with life skills to support all community members between the ages of 10 to 65 years including those with more complex needs.

Pink Lizard Developing Youth and Community

This 16-month project will continue a People’s Health Trust funded 'grow cook and eat’ project, running two sessions per week at a local community centre in the Saffron area of Leicester. The project will continue to teach new and existing participants how to cook healthy meals on a small budget, sharing old and new recipes and encouraging participants to be guest speakers once a month.

This existing two-year project aims to continue providing a social club for senior residents in the suburban area of Humberstone in North East Leicester, led by local volunteers. The club delivers six activities per week designed to encourage friendships including a walking club, a luncheon, bingo sessions and armchair aerobics.

This new two year project will build on existing activity and will bring together a core group of ten mothers to plan and deliver weekly activity sessions for new mothers in the Spinney Hill and Highfields areas of Leicester. The project will also provide two courses that train participants to become peer supporters. The project particularly looks to target Asian mothers who are new to the UK and who may feel isolated and lack confidence.

Somali Development Services Ltd

This new 24 month project working with 50 isolated Somali women and aims to reduce isolation and empower them by bringing them together, networking, creating friendships and  offering opportunities to enhance their aspirations through socialising and activity workshops. It will address issues relating to social or emotional isolation, unemployment and gender.
Northampton Bangladeshi Association Northampton £49,999 This new two year project will provide a programme of recreational, social and educational activities for women from Bangladeshi, BAME and eastern European communities living in Northampton. The project aims to help women from these communities feel less isolated and more confident and will address issues around social and emotional isolation, migrancy from other countries and gender.
Restorative Justice Initiative (Midlands)CIC Leicester  £18,090 This new 24 month project is built on a pilot project which trained women on restorative justice to deal with conflicts in their community. The aim is to train 12 women from Home Farm Close to enable them to set up and run weekly restorative justice meetings to resolve neighbourhood conflicts amongst women in their local neighbourhood.
Shama Womens Centre Leicester  £32,436 This new programme of 18 months aims to deliver social and educational activities for women who have experienced domestic abuse. It will address isolation, depression and cultural barriers while providing an opportunity to share experiences with other victims, improve employability skills, language and confidence skills and increase access to other services. It will focus upon the issues of social or emotional issues, abuse and/or at risk of abuse and mental ill health.
Sikh Community Centre Leicester £22,040 This new two year project involves setting up a group for women to get together twice a week to share and learn each other’s skills and ideas. It aims to enable women to become more sociable, prevent their isolation and become active members of the community. The project is in response to the fact that many women say they feel alone and have nowhere to go. Workshop sessions will include yoga, knitting and the provision of advice and information. There will also be day trips and sign-posting women to relevant organisations.
Thorplands Club 81 FC Northampton

This twenty month project is the continuation of an existing programme with some additional new activities. Thorplands Club 81 FC will provide weekly training and matches for ten football teams and community outreach at Southfields estate and Blackthorn Estate which are currently subject to a youth crime dispersal order. In addition, it will provide “walking football” exercise for over 50s to help reduce local high levels of heart disease. Alongside these activities, there will be social events. The project aims to address issues related to poor physical environment, risk of offending, and low educational attainment or risk of it.

This new 12 month project aims to deliver bring together 30 refugees, asylum seekers and migrants from diverse backgrounds together to share an experience of music, foods, storytelling of their lives experiences from their original countries. The project will take place in Leicester city centre at the YMCA, with fortnightly sessions.
Bangladesh Youth & Cultural Shomiti Leicester £46,811 This new 2 year project aims to create opportunities for Bangladeshi women isolated in their home due to family responsibilities. Using a group work approach it will provide new experiences for participants in a culturally appropriate community setting, advance equality, develop communication and employability skills, help tackle barriers to employment, promote educational attainment and help participants form friendship groups.
The Feel Good Friday Group Northampton £29,860 This new two year project builds on existing activity and aims to deliver a health and well being session for women living in Northampton with a range of mental health and/or physical disabilities and provide friendship, companionship and support. It will provide counselling, massages and relaxation sessions, artwork and cookery skills sessions
Greenhill Tenants Association Coalville £14,003 This project will support an exsisting youth club (two groups: 4-11 and 12-16) and provide day trips over a 24month period for the children and young people who attend the youth clubs on the Greenhill estate in Coalville.
Performing Room Northampton £49,760 This is a continuation of an exsisting music mentoring project. The project will run for 24 months and deliver music mentoring sessions for unemployed residents of eastern Northampton.
Project Polska Leicestershire £13,650 This new 18 month project aims to raise the aspirations of Polish migrant women aged 22-35 in Leicestershire, boost their confidence, create a sense of belonging and a sense of ownership in the local community. The project consists of eight life skills modules facilitated by professional trainers.
Back to Books Kettering £30,000 This new one year project aims to offer a series of weekly workshops in creative activities. The project will be based on the Grange estate in Kettering
Thorplands & Thorplands Brook Co-operative Ltd Thorplands £21,216 This two year project is a continuation and extension of an existing project delivering two weekly youth clubs for 6-16 year olds in the area. In addition to this, the organisation will start to deliver a weekly after school club and half-term activity days for children from Thorplands.
Zimwomen Assoication Northamptonshire Northampton £12,492 This new one year project aims to reduce antisocial behaviour, isolation, and idleness. Seven young people aged 16-25 and five African women aged 25-70 from Goldings in Northampton will take part in weekly sessions on an allotment which belongs the group.

The Conservation Volunteers  South Wigston and Eyres Monsell £20,000 Over two years each of these projects will support communities in South Wigston and Eyres Monsell (Leicestershire) to develop their capacity to identify and implement the solutions which are best for them. TCV will facilitate a collaborative process which will reduce isolation, promote self-direction and personal resilience. The desired outcome of the projects is a community empowered to make decisions and take action resulting in a positive difference to their lives.
Sustrans   £200,000 Sustrans will support community engagement work in seven neighbourhoods. It will work with local people to identify their concerns, issues and aspirations, so that they can establish a set of priorities which they can then address. It will do this through co-creating a Plan for Change, supported by locally recruited Community Champions. The focus will be on enhancing local control of environmental issues that have an impact on people’s lives.
